I am surprised to see so many negative comments regarding this game.

I love it. Apart from a missing carrer-mode, (and the not-so well
balanced autobrakes in rookie-mode as I have written elsewhere)it is
absolutely georgeous.
I think the graphics are quite good, and especially I am surprising to
see that my not all to great machinery can run it quite easily in
800*600. I even think 1024*700 is a possibility, but I havent tried.
And, as a prove of the great graphics, try taking a replay, and push
the left arrow button. I think that is one hell of a great graphic
performance.
But most importantly, the car is as fabelous to control as GP2.

I certainly don't hate it.  I'm getting a lot of fun out of playing it.
There have been plenty of positive messages here about GP3 as well.  Having
said that it isn't as impressive now as GP2 was when that was released, and
it hasn't reached the heights I expected it to.  In particular, I think the
physics, AI and some of the graphics don't quite match up to some other
titles (not just GPL), but it won't stop me enjoying the game.  The gameplay
is there in abundance and the wet weather is excellent.  It would be in the
85-90% region I guess.

It's not that we hate it.  It's just that I'm tired of rehashed sims.  GP3
fails in the low fps (fixed at 25fps when the computer had an occupancy of
23%!!) and multiplayer areas.  If your only into single player racing then
GP3 would be fine with the FPS hack.

I wanted a new sim for July so I ordered Viper Racing :-D

Jason.

I can't hate GP3 because I still haven't gotten GP3!  I hope it arrives
tomorrow...

And BTW, I probably will love GP3 considering it's a lot like GP2.  :)

I'm finding it rather ***ive. The graphics are OK. Not the best
(that would be SBK) but decent, and a good sense of speed.

I like the physics. I'm in control but it feels "dynamic" - if I make
a mistake I can usually recover, but I pay in lost time.

The weather effects are great.

The user interface is horrendous, as is the controller setup. An
embarrasment frankly. But I can live with that, as long as the patch
the worst of the controller deficiencies.

The track editor is incredible news - there will soon be a ton of
tracks available. That will add huge replay value to the game.

pros:
- physics (although its NOT gpl ;-)
- handling (you can catch spins and slide!)
- weather
- nice sounds
cons:
- you only hear your own sounds
- the ai is very stupid and aggressive
- useless default setups (when will GC learn it???)
- coarse grained graphics: even at 1280x1024, I can't see the apex of
most turns early enough, whereas I can with F1RS/RS2/F12000 ...

overall: on a scale from 1 to 10, I'd give it a 8 ...

Don't get TOO e***d yet. It is released as "technology preview".
Simple things are already possible, but it seems they bumped into some
(computer car related) serious problems when trying to make completely
new layouts.

It's the same structure (almost) as in GP2, but what I really like
is the ability to use the keyboard in the menus. I wish, Papy would
reenable keyboad navigation in their future sims.

Am I the only one in F1-2000 that has problems with the white line on
either side of the track? On my machine, the outline of the track seems
to point towards the centre of the track around 100 meters infront of me
and is blended into the track. Makes it real hard to tell what the track
is doing a few hundred meters infront of you. After 50 or so laps I
learned the track and all was fine from there, but in GP3, I can see
where the track is going and as a consequence, the same (or similar
tracks) in GP3 are much easier to get my line correct.

Cheers,
Rod.
