Send this to Ubisoft but got no answers. Have someone seem this before?
Some days ago I found a copy of Monaco Grand Prix RS2 and bought it.
Yesterday I finally had the time to install it. Here is my machine
configuration:
Toshiba Notebook PIII-600 with 128MB RAM
S3 Savage IX w/MV with 8MB video board (D3D)
ESS sound board
No joystick
Windows 98 SE English
DirectX 7.0a
Desktop at High Color (16-bit)
I downloaded and installed the patch RS2-106D.exe. I am running the game in
640x480. Everything was fine and I enjoyed the game, it was very fun to
drive. I shutdown Windows and turned off the computer.
Today, I tried to run the game again. To my surprise, as soon as I enter a
race, it seems that I have a extremely fast computer as the game seems to be
running in fast forward (to clarify, the computer cars are able to do a full
lap on Melborne in a couple of seconds). Then, I tried changing the game
resolution to 800x600 but the same problem occurs. OK, something gets
broken, so I removed the game, rebooted the machine, deleted the remaining
directory (some files where there) and reinstalled it. Before applying the
patch, I tried the game with everything default. Same problem. I reinstalled
the patch, same problem. At last, I reinstalled DX7A. After a reboot, tried
the game again with the same results.
Was something wrong with my video board? To check, I tried some other
installed games: POD using D3D runs perfect, Nascar99 using DirectDraw runs
perfect also, Descent3 using OpenGL and D3D was 100% and Driver (D3D) was OK
also, so the video and the computer are OK. The same with DirectX. So,
something is wrong in the game (after sending this to Ubisoft, I installed
and tested Superbike World Championship (D3D) and it is working fine).
I know this is an old game and that you have one new coming out (F1RC) but I
was looking for a small one (this uses only 50~80 MB on harddrive) and that
runs with everything on on my machine. Any ideas on what's the problem?
Thanks,
Roberto
