Not sure about that as I use a joystick.

Yes thats ok. It still needs to access the CD for the music.
If you check the CD you'll see that those music .wav files are huge.
Some over 5mb each I think.

Okay i think i can answer them questions!

As per the keyboard no sorry you cant
change them...in fact if you play for some time
you'll get used to them and then realise that they
are quite good settings after all. Better than
cursor keys definitely. The control option menu is
for changes you want to make if you use joysticks,
or the wheel peddle combinations. Of course them
wheel things are prety expensive and so you'd want
to make sure they work.

As for the other thing CD is read always if
you notice when it starts up and when it needs to
access sound files  for example at the menu's. This
is actually more of a software copyright protection
thing than anything else which means you'll have to
have the cd to play the game...therefre everyone
needs to buy it! The different levels for
installing are so to determine the speed of the
game. Optimal means it will be at it's quickest
whereas the the others will reduce speed of the
entire game itself (ie driving loading etc..)

        Hopefully this has answered you
questions...happy driving!
