Nascar: Weird way to end race?

by Lucas Cro » Sat, 20 Apr 1996 04:00:00

I just finished a race at Talladega. I came in 5th or so it said at
first. Once all the car returned to the pits I pulled into my pit, and
noticed the car in front of me was twitching in its stall. I pulled up
closer to see what it was doing. As I got closer it pulled out of its
pits and returned to the track. I followed it to see what it was doing,
when we both crossed the start finish line, I was DQed...I don't know
why?  Can anyone tell me why I was DQed?

There is a bug in NASCAR that the black flag rules are still in effect
after the end of the race. If you speed in the pits after the race ends,
you get a black flag. You can't serve the black flag because the race is
over, so you get DQ'd.
