TOCA2 Weakness?

TOCA2 Weakness?

Maybe I'm the only one experiencing this, but there seems to be a HUGE
leap in diffculty between novice and standard settings. Novice is way
too, easy in that you can hardly lose. In  standard mode the other
racers seems almost on tracks. They never seem to***up unless the
human player is involved and when they collide with a human player
they don't seem to spin out near as easily as the human player. Is
this just my perception?

I think it's you... Novice is way too easy, standard is just too easy and
expert is probably slightly easy too. I'd much have preferred a percentage
slider for the AI difficulty.

Yes, both novice and standard are too easy. In either mode, you can from
from 16th to 1st in a 5 lap race with a lot of room to spare and still
have 1 spin out.
In expert mode, the AI cars are noticeably faster and more aggressive,
but its still possible to be pretty competitive even without too many
laps under your belt.

I think the patch is going to give us more flexibility regarding the
strength of the AI.

I disagree with you about the AI. I have often raced in the demo of
TOCA 2, where you can only race in Standard, and the AI cars are often
colliding with each other, especially at the first corner after the
pit wall. If I start at the back of the pack I can drive past several
cars on that corner as they each spin and twist into each other.

Actually, the AI on any difficulty level is way too easy.  A good driver can
lap the field even in expert mode.  This is supposed to be addressed in an
upcoming patch which will allow you to custom tailor the ai lap times and
car setups.

Easiest way to stay competitve or ahead of Standard and Expert is to make a few
setup changes.  Taller gears, flatter spoiler and harder suspension on most
tracks and a hard, high downforce for tighter courses (Croft for example).
Also pratice, practice, practice.

It seems true!  You can always always always pass on the inside of a corner in
this game!  Doesn't matter if you're on the pave, rumble curb or grass, it's an
automatic move up.  Just lean on the other cars and go for it because thats
where the AI is gonna be racing too!

Change your setup like this: use no downforce at all (slider completely to
the left) and max out the 6th gear (and space the others). Leave the rest
the way it is. (On most tracks I max out ALL gear settings!). This way you
(well, maybe I should say I... :-) can be number 1 after 1 lap (at the
most!), starting from the back of the grid in expert mode. In other words:
the AI is VERY weak. The upcoming patch will enable you to change the
strenth of the AI.

The novice setting is ridiculously easy, but the expert also becomes
too easy, if you use zero down force. This will be fixed in the
upcoming patch.

The AI in Toca2 is very weak and there will apparently be a fix in the
soon to be released patch (LOL). As an example if you load up Croft  in
Advanced level and do a qualifying lap a 1min15sec lap will give you pole
position! It takes very little practice to achieve a time like this. Come
on the patch!!

 Handy  :-))
