processor & fan.

Thanks for the post.

One question, has anyone had any success SLI'ing a Creative with a Diamond
card? I have a Diamond card and am looking for a cheap card to SLI until I
decide to get V3 3500 or TNT2 Ultra. V550 working great for now, but you
know how that goes.

You can SLI two different V2s.  Sometimes just by using reference drivers.  If
this does not work, you can download a patch here:
http://home.earthlink.net/~aosnovich/
This works only with the reference drivers it is written for.  So if the
gentleman who was kind enough to write this in the first place does not want
to upgrade the patch, you will not be able to use newer drivers.  I used this
for one or two games, it worked fine.

Refurbished boards! Ha! If taking new boards out of original packaging and
sticking them in white boxes constitutes "refurbished," well, okay these are
"refurbished." Better described as "inventory we got stuck with" after the
release of the Voodoo3. Can't imagine that many would want to pay any more
than $50 for a V2 when V3s are at or near the $100 mark.

My bet is that 95+% of these boards are "untouched by human hands" and are
simple dealer returns - dead inventory that was just languishing on their
shelves next to the V3s. Dealers are unwilling to drop the price and blow
them out the door in order to avoid the wrath/complications of customers who
just paid two or three times the price. So these perfectly fresh boards, get
returned to the manufacturer and are suddenly "refurbished".

Look for "refurbished" Banshees next.

OR of course if one has a single 12meg CL V2 and has a slot open for a
second, its a good deal also...

Yeah...considering that a V3 3000 is $180, and the 3500 hasn't reached
stores yet, a pair of V2s for $100 is a steal...

I bet in 3 months you will be able to buy Voodoo3 2000 cards for
$50.00.   This ***is all planned obsolescence.

And it is only $100 now.  It isn't crap, it's just a fast advancing field
with a lot of competition.  We benefit from it.

I agree with revved.  Unless you want to have a 3D-only card, freeing you to
choose any desired 2D/3D card (like TNT2), I'd get the V3 2000 for <$100 over
the two cheap V2's.

Why do you think 3dfx bought STB?   It was competition amoung the
various board makers that was driving down the price of the cards.
Now that they control thier own cards,  we probably won't see such
drastic price cuts anymore.

Yeah, except that I have to get 2 of these $50 Voodoo2s - I have 2 PCs!!
(Believe me, it would be a pain deciding which PC would get it if I got
one - one runs GPL fast but everything else slow (rendition) and the other
sucks at gpl but smokes anything else (matrox G200))
