New Intense 3d BIOS prob???

by AKH » Wed, 23 Jul 1997 04:00:00

Has anyone had a problem using the new Intergraph BIOS? I loaded the new
BIOS and W95drivers and was pretty happy.... at first. The annoying
flicker at boot-up and shut-down was gone, The 'pause' for the
self-diagnostic test (with the monitor asleep) was gone, etc..

I then tried Moto Racer GP(Win 95) and all was fine. And THEN I went to
DOS for Nascar2. Scrambled video as if the refresh rate was wrong. Same
for Indycar2. I ran the Renutil.exe program and IF I used renutil 0 or
renutil 1 I could get Nascar2.exe to work BUT not the rendition version.
At other settings neither version would work.

I've since flashed back to the previous BIOS and all is fine except the
annoying flicker is back...

Anyone else experience this? Ideas?

Ya, The new 103 bios squishes my N2 screen in Win95 and in DOS.
I haven't tinkered with it much yet to see if I can work around the
problem. For now, I'm running the 74 bios and the new drivers. It
seems to be working fine.

Atleast I'm not alone! I went back to the 79 BIOS but it doesn't 'fix'
the flicker at boot-up that was there on the 74 BIOS also (but 'fixed'
on the 103). I can live with it, but getting rid of it would get rid of
the funny looks I get when I tell people I put the system together
myself and then boot it up and the monitor flashes a couple of
times...And I 'know' they're thinking "My Packard Bell" doesn't do
THAT!" ;o) ....but then again their CD Rom is probably not working
either.... ;o)

Yes, I also upgraded the BIOS to the new version, and my ICR2 is now
squished -- someting like 640x200 (Hey, it's the Letterboxed version!)
So I reinstalled the old 74 version and problem went away.
Needs just a little bit more testing, I think.

Yes, I've had the same problem.  My N2 screen with the new bios is only
about 2/3 what it should be, it wiggles annoyingly and the image is
extremely dark.

The only problem that I have had so far is that the mouse leaves a trail
in the menu windows. After that, it runs great...
