Yes, I've networked Nascar.  Send me an e-mail if you need help.

What do you mean you networked

Get the multie.exe from the Hawaii version, load your IPX ODI drivers
like you do for Falcon or Doom and enjoy a .03 latency!

But you are still limited to just head to head with one other computer
:(

Meaning I've run Nascar on a network and raced another human along with the
AI...

I tried this, but could not get it going.
Inside MULTI.EXE, when I tried to "DIAL", it said that
IPX was not running.

Do you still have to have a Novell Netware server running on a
third machine?

What exactly do I need to load to get IPX running?

Assume NE2000 Ethernet Adapters.  They come with a diskette
with drivers for several types of networking.  Use one of these?
Which one?  (IPX ODI of course.... but it is not obvious)

Or do you get IPX ODI drivers from somewhere else that work with
NASCAR racing?

Are you saying that MULTI.EXE has better networking support than
NASCAR.EXE?

You have to actually be LOGGED IN to a server, and I would guess you'd type
MULTI -N

Change from modem to direct connect...

Y'know, I'm gonna have to experiment with this...<g>

If you set the number of opponents to 1 (I think) then there won't be
any AI cars.  I race my son every night with 37 opponents, me and him
with 36 idiot AI cars!  .03 latency is with 10Base2... I wonder if it
would be less with a 10BaseT connection?

Here is the important part of my multi.bat file

lsl.com
ne2000.com
ipxodi.com
multi.exe -f -h -n

NASCAR.EXE requires a userid from a NetWare Server, MULTI.EXE does
not... I can't remember where I found it, but I got a file off the net
named IPXODI-2.ZIP.

Not all net cards come with the LSL software, happy hunting!

Let me see if I understand...
...This means NASCAR.EXE requires a NetWare Server
...This means MULTI.EXE does not require a NetWare Server?

I have lsl.com  (off the novell network support encyclopedia CD-ROM)
I have ne2000.com  (it comes with the ne2000 network card)
I am not sure about ipxodi.com (I will look for it)
I have multi.exe (from Papyrus, the good guys)

So you do this on two machines connected by the proper Ethernet wiring
and these two machines all by themselves can run multicar across the
ethernet.  (i.e. no third machine or Novell Netware server is
required) One machine dials and the other answers?

Hey Robert Huggins !
You burnt somethin' into my screen !

Do you have a server where you can mirror it please because I can't download it from the
Papyrus server because of a slow connection !
(Or can you [or someone else] mail it to me please ??? {Only 800k!})
Seems to be right !
