F1C: Porsche Carrera Cup question

Is there a way to have the game save the setup for a single track? All
I care about at the moment is running Watkins Glen (Long - with the
boot) and every time I start I have to reset all the parameters,
including wheel button assignments, etc. I simply want it set to full
realism ALL the time and to save my wheel (MS FF) settings.

Also, is there a way to NOT have the AI drive out of the garage? For
some reason the HP car drives out and RAMS into the trucks parked
there and I can only actually drive if I go to"Race" and start out at
the end of the field. I actually prefer starting there to be honest,
but sure would like to have a CHOICE! 8-)

Thanks!

I don't understand why you have to reset everything.  Everytime I run
f1c and it's mods, all the assignments are exactly as I left them.  This
goes for bouncing between mods too,  I usually try to use the exact same
commands for each mod, that way, I'm not stabbing at the pitlane speed
limiter button when I really wanted to hit the rear view button.
But all those assignments, 'should' be static.  I have never used a MSFF
but I don't see why that would act differently than other wheels.
As far as cars not behaving in the pits....see if there is a corrected aiw
file at race sim central, barring that, reduce the number of cars on track.

Good luck.

I don't understand it either Dave. My wheel is set up to give certain
keypresses, including the up/downshift paddles. The game accepts them
fine and I go off. I also set all the options to full realism (all
aids off). I can run a race, but when I go back to do it again I have
to reset everything all over. This WG track is an add-on and i'm not
running in a series, just one track, not sure if that has anything to
do with it.

Thanks,
Gary

It kinda sounds like your control config file, or rather your .plr file
has a write-protect bit set.  Maybe look at the file properties and make
sure the 'read only' box is NOT checked.

Dave -

Under C:\Program Files\EA SPORTS\F1 Challenge 99-02\PCCSave\Gary
Patricks is my .plr file, not read-only. I notice that many tracks
have .svm files in them but C:\Program Files\EA SPORTS\F1 Challenge
99-02\PCCSave\Gary Patricks\Settings\Watkinslong contains nothing.
Also, C:\Program Files\EA SPORTS\F1 Challenge
99-02\PCCSave\Settings\Watkinslong contains no files either.. Maybe I
should just delete this driver and start over, not a biggie..

Thanks!

svm files are setup files for either you or the ai to use, depending upon
how the file is named and placed.    It doesn't, or rather shouldn't affect
the layout of your controls etc.
