Dale Will Race Sunday

I just heard on ESPN that Dale Jr WILL race on Sunday.

This is a stout young man, and I'm very proud of him.

There is an indication that they may put Kevin Harvick in the #3 car and run
it as a tribute to Dale Sr.

I would rather see Jr. in the car, but I understand why he can't.  The
reality is that he did finish 2nd last week, he is (I think) second in the
points, and they do have to consider the reality of not losing points by not
running the proper car.

I would be tickled pink to see Jr. win the Championship this year, and I
support him all the way...

I'd rather never see the #3 run again. No use in simply parading it
around....it would be class-less and distasteful. Change the number, like what
happened to the #42 last year.

I think there's more to it than him being second in points.  Matter of fact,
I think that probably has nothing to do with it.  Look at it this way, what
would Earnhardt do if Little E wouldn't race ofr any reason?  Earnhardt
would have none of that.  More than any driver out there, he'd say that you
had to get back in the car and race no matter what.  There is no better
tribute to Earnhardt than racing.

Agreed, though I don't quite follow all of it :)

At some point we'd run out of numbers though if we retired them all.

I agree.  Having Harvick run in it just wouldn't be right.

True, but if I remember right, 42 wasn't 'retired', merely the number changed.
It's Richard Childress's call on wether or not the number gets changed or not
and if it will be retired.  Hard to say what will happen.

I hadn't thought about that, but I would love to see Dale Jr win the
Championship, too! I think that would be amazing and appropriate. I am sure
it will be on his mind and he will be racing for it. Good luck Jr!

It would be hard to see anyone iin #3 whether it is a tribute or not. I
think the Number should be retired forever and I understand that is a
decision for Richard Childers.

From what I heard tonight on RPM Tonight, the car will be there but it won't
have a 3 on it and it won't have the black and silver paint job on it.

Harvick will race "For Childress" for the rest of the year.

I don't think it's been released as to what the colors or numbers will be.

I heard that Harvick will be in the #29 car (with Goodwrench
sponsorship; different paint) for the rest of the year. Maybe Jr. can
secure the championship... if he survives Talladega and Daytona again.
Peace,
Tony
