Anyone played this sim. Does it support 3dfx?. Opinions of

Power F1 is a nice looking game but the steering response was very
sloppy. I'm using a Thrustmaster T2 steering wheel/pedals unit. I
thought the game sucked but have just downloaded a patch that supposedly
fixes the "dead spot" in the controller interface. I'll reinstall the
game (I was going to sell it but held on in hopes of a patch), install
the patch and see how the game plays. Power F1 doesn't support 3Dfx. As
mentioned above, the graphics are nice - especially for a non 3Dfx
enhanced game and the sound is OK - not great but you can hear several
cars simultaneously. IMHO GPII is still the king in the F1 genre but
there are no plans to make a 3Dfx patch :(
BTW, I've read somewhere that Ubisoft is making a driving game ala
Formula One. If their game is anywhere near as nice looking as Pod and
if the controller interface as tight and if the game is 3Dfx enhanced,
then I'll be the first one on their waiting list!!! Oh yeah, try the
Moto Racer GP demo if you have a Voodoo card.  It's 18 mb but well worth
the two hour download.

OK, I reinstalled Power F1 and installed the Joyfix.exe patch and ran
the game again. The steering interface is much, much better now! BTW,
the Joyfix patch is at the Eidos website. The game still isn't as good
as GPII and the frame rate is a little slow. If you have a 3Dfx card,
then don't get this game. Save your money for the Formula One game that
Ubisoft is supposed to be working on. However, if you don't have a 3Dfx
card and want a driving sim that has arcade-like feel, then this is a
decent game - if you use the Joyfix patch.
