Any word on CMR3? What's it gonna be like?

The screenshots still look amazing to me.. a few of them on
bhmotorsports.com are just beautiful. I was just wondering if anyone has any
clue what the physics are going to be like in this game...

I mean, the PS2 version and such obviously weren't geared towards the sim
racer. But, it seems like this PC version is taking FOREVER to be released
and it sounds like there is work being done on it or something. I can't help
but wonder if the effort is being put into actually coming up with a new
physics model or something to appeal to the sim racing crowd, since they
already put something out for the arcade crowd like a year ago or whenever
it was released.

I just think a new rally game would be very nice..

If you think Codies are interested in making a sim then you obviously
haven't played Race Driver.

if it plays like the xbox version, it will be trash.

As far as console rally ports go, I think PC users would be better of
with V-Rally 3 imho.  Still not a sim, but by far the best career mode
of any rally title, an actual damage model (my first season in the
2.0L class I crashed out of the first 2 rallies), and physics that are
sort of Rallisport Challenge/Rally Masters-ish.  It's not nearly as
pretty of a game as CMR3, but it plays much much better.

Nice to know you've given specifics as to why you think CMR3 is "trash".
I'm curious.  Why don't you like it?  Granted, it takes getting used to the
controls, but you can't expect much when using a gamepad in a racing game.

Myself, I think the XBox version is decent.  It seems to handle fairly well,
though I'm no expert in how a Rally car ought to handle.  The stages are at
least somewhat long, compared to something like Rally Trophy.  Sure, the
menus are some of the worst I've seen, but overall it's a decent title.

The way the car moves is completely ridiculous.  The physics are almost
non-existant.  Watch the way the car behaves when going over a jump - makes
a mockery of gravity.  Project Gotham or even GT3 are far better examples of
making a cars movement look believable while still being playable with a
joypad.
