==========
Nah. The restrictor plate has a much more pronounced effect; 200+ mph
entry on the high bank is achievable.

Non-linear steering means a somewhat slower response at or near center
on the wheel. A smoother line is probably responsible for the speed
increase. (Make note of this when you decide to change it back. :) As
for the pole, there's a known bug about qualifying at dega. I don't
recall the specific details, but I think you need to go around again to
get the checker before the qual run is official. As I understand it,
this applies only to dega.

Sounds like when you reinstalled NCR that you are now using the older
version.  Updating to version 1.21 should slow you down a little at
'Dega.  Also sounds as if you are only completing 1 qual lap instead
of 2.

You can find the patch to version 1.21 at:

It's not a bug, that's the way it's setup--correctly I might add.  NASCAR
allows 2-lap qualifying at Talladega and Daytona in order to get the
restrictor plate engines up to speed.

The short tracks should also have 2-lap qualifying, something I sincerely hope
Papyrus fixes in NASCAR 2 (I know it's easy to change, but it would be
nice if it came that way from Papyrus).  NASCAR uses 2-laps at short
tracks because the tires don't get warm enough to make a really good, fast
lap after only one warmup lap.  The drivers essentially use the first lap
as a warmup lap, then go for it on the second lap.

NASCAR will also allow 2-lap qualifying at other tracks if the weather is
extremely cold (they did this at Atlanta this year).

Yea, I used to get times like that using my keyboard back before I got the
track pack.  Talledega gets slowed down or something with the 1.2 patch.

Be sure you are using ver 1.21 of NASCAR.EXE. When you reinstalled, it
wrote the original version to the HDD.

Check the weather temp and wind speed/direction and restrictor plate.

Thanks to all. I didn't reload the 1.21 patch. That was the problem. All
is well now.

Did you increase the temperature and forget to set it back to 70?
