Will it hurt anything to change joystick/t2 by unplugging from
soundcard  gameport? It would be a pain to shutdown just to do that....
                      Thanks...........

I did it for a long time with no bad results. Then I got the Joyswitch from
Egghead software. It can handle 4 joysticks and 2 sets of foot pedals.
You can take a look at it at www.egghead.com.It goes for about $50.
I got tired of plugging and unplugging until I found this.

All the documentation say's to power down, but I've never had a problem (so
far) by unplugging with the power on.

I believe that the docs say that because of the chance of dislodging the
ISA card during the removal/insertion. If you are going to hot-swap
joysticks, be certain that your ISA cards are screwed in and secure.
I've seen ISA slots burned out by dislodging cards with the power on.

I went down to my local electronics store and picked up a male and
female
D-15 connector, and a ribbon cable long enough to plug into the back of
the computer and go down and under the computer to the front. That is
where
I plug the joystick in.  This way I can reach it easily, and there isn't
any risk of effecting the ISA card.

Ahh, that makes sense.  If you are going to be doing alot of swapping
input devices and don't want to spend the bucks on a JoySwitch, go out
and find a joystick extension cable.  With this you can have the plug
within easy reach and you won't even have to worry about dislodging your
card.  Should be able to find one for around $5.00-$6.00!
