An idea for the guys at Papyrus/sierra:
Why not go back through the registration cards/forms from INDYCAR
RACING/ICR2 and make a special offer available for the INDY kit.
You can see the response here regarding people looking for the track.
It wouldn't have to be made available on a full commercial scale
through retailers..hell,you could even work out a deal with IMS to
sell it through them if they wanna regulate the number of copies out.

Think about it..people are looking for it..if they cant get it
LEGALLY...they'll take the next step, then everyone loses out, huh?

Read this slowly:

Papyrus' rights to manufacture the IMS expansion kit have expired, and
IMS is not inclined to renew them, for a variety of reasons, known
only to the genuis, Tony George.

One could make the same argument about a lot things, and I don't think
it is a compelling argument, rather the expression in words of what a
three year old does when you don't give him a cookie he demands.

When I go into my bank to withdraw $50,000 (which I don't have), and
the teller doesn't give it to, should I use the same argument that if
she won't give it to me legally that I'll take the next step and
everyone loses out?

If people are prone to illegally copying software, that's up to them.
Chances are they won't get caught. But the fact that people will copy
the IMS track if it's not offered for sale is not compelling enough
for Papyrus to break the law by manufacturing and selling more boxes.

Papy doesn't have the rights to Indy anymore. They can't resell it.
Period.

Yeah - I bet they never thought about selling the Indy track
to people before...... how could they have missed such an
obvious gold mine?

One more time:
IT IS NOT A PAPYRUS/SIERRA ISSUE.
IT IS AN INDIANAPOLIS MOTOR SPEEDWAY ISSUE.

And IMS isn't going to re-issue it - they've got a deal with
ABC and ??? to put out a new IRL simulation this fall...
