OK ALLREADY, STOP BUSTIN' ON SIERRA

I just read some kinda funny postings about the release date of NC2.

For those of You who feel there should be NO Delay for unexpected
programming difficulties,  I have news for You.

The only people who are ***in are the ones who are mind numbed by Windows
pointing and clicking. Get a grip on whats behind the scenes for a
development project like this.  They're not writin' an address book here.
This is a VERY complex peice of code.  Something 99.999% of the people on
this newsgroup have NO IDEA of just how complex.  Don't think just because
You've played around with Access that You know how difficult it is to
develop something like NC2.

Remember,  they're not using Visual Basic to do this.

This game is supposed to be Rendition Ready and the cards haven't been on
the market for 1/4 of the development time of the game.  Talk about a shot
in the dark.

Perhaps those of You doing all the Pissin and moanin ought to go down to
your local Best Buy or Wal-Mart and pick up a copy of MACRO-ASSEMBLER and
write a peice of code to put your name on the screen.  In DOS even. When
your through with that,  move some graphics around with it,  then a routine
to chat with your buddy at the same time,  dont forget 8 player IPX, Shit,
now you have to speed it up some more because you got lazy on the chat
routine.  We need sound.  Support every sound card on the planet.  Tell
NASCAR to stop letting guys like Larry McReynolds to stop changing  teams
so You can be accurate at your time of press with the names and cars and
faces.  And no.  You cannot do all this by hitting START, RUN....

And for those of you who feel that Sierra is going to be punished with low
sales because of the delays and all the people who'll "hold out and never
buy cause they hosed me".  Well I just read where Mister I'm going to
release Win95 a year or so late now makes $272 Million for each point that
Microsoft goes up.  I'll bet He's pissed about all those people who didn't
buy it right away.

I'd like to see it out too and I'm sure somebody is going to get it for
less money than I did but hey,  am I going to boycot NC2 cause it's late??
Get real....

It's good to hear this from time to time. Reality is nice.

Like everyone else, I think it's a pain when things aren't released
on time. The thing that strikes me as strange is that some people think
the
software companies enjoy delaying release dates. They want their money
just
as quickly as they can get it, but they're not going to release
something
that isn't (at least in their minds) ready to go. And, if I'm spendin' a
big ol' chunk of my change on the product, they'd damn well better hold
it
until it's ready to go.

To those who think Sierra is taking pleasure in delaying the release
(and delaying the arrival of $$$ as well), think of a rocket launching.
That
countdown -- T-minus fill-in-a-number -- isn't just for sh!*s and
giggles.
There's something to check for every second, and they start the
countdown
well before 10.

I can't see NASA getting to T-minus-23 and finding a bug, and
saying, "Screw it! Launch it anyway! Our CNN viewers will be miffed if
this bird ain't launched on time!" And, I'd hate to see Sierra rush the
release of this game, only for us to play it and wonder why those trees
are growing on Martinsville's backstraight...and why the spotter just
told us that "the rear tire is low on gas! Pass the pace car
immediately!"

Cripes, that was a rant. :-)

snip.....................

Pity some of the moaners dont see it that way. What would they say if
they released it now and it had some bugs. More moaning know doubt.
Could'nt have said it better myself.
