T2 question - Any good?

by kmw.. » Mon, 27 Jan 1997 04:00:00

Has anyone used the T2 extensively (i.e. at least one full season, with
extensive testing sessions)?
How does it hold up?
Does anyone know if it works on optical movement, or is it normal
mechanical contacts?

Many thanks,

I have used my T2 for roughly a year now, and have raced with it A LOT.
It does not use optical sensors.  It does use mechanical
potentiometers.  Mine has held up admirably well.  My pedal springs are
still good and springy.  The potentiometer (pot) in the steering wheel
mechanism is finally showing a little wear, but nothing serious.  If it
does fail, Thrustmaster has well-renowned support that is said to
quickly and happily replace any faulty or worn parts.

The T2 sells for around $100 and is a real steal at that price.  If you
have to worry about spending less than $300 for a TSW, go ahead and get
the T2.  You will likely be quite satisfied with it.

I agree with Matt, I have a T2 for over a year now, and it has stand a LOT of
driving, ICR2, GP1, GP2, Screamer2, Nascar, Nascar2, NFS, and it still stand
in one piece pedals springs are still good and the pots are still accurate.

The only thing I do to avoid problems with the springs, is that I drive with a
foot on the gas and the other on the break, this way the pedal does not snap
back on the casing when I have to brake or accellerate in a hurry, perhaps
it's not the more efficient way to drive in a race but I prefer that instead
of hearing the loud "CLANG" the pedals were making when I drove with one foot.

Good racing

John :-)

It is a most efficient way to drive a race car. By the time you take your
foot off the gas and before you hit the brake you hit the other car. Many
if not most short trackers use 2 feet to drive.
