I have been without email service, ISP service and/or a computer that worked
on either....for about two weeks now (since about Jan21).
Since I have a "history" of making long "posts"....I think I will break
character and say only: This was due to a "Murphy's Law" combination of
lost all three of my "business" computers and "race box" in a virus attack
(spread through my LAN in under 30 secs) that started it all.
There have been a few "windows" of time (an hour here and hour there) where
I've had one computer and one ISP connection that would work, only to have
email downloaded and then lost again. Of course, I've not had anything
stable long enough to establish a newsgroup link.....until today, that is.
I now have (I believe) one computer (my laptop) and one ISP link that is
stable enough to "re-subscribe" to r.a.s. I still do not have regular email
service however, and probably won't until tomorrow.
To those of you in the sim community who have emailed me, or made posts to
this newsgroup (or others) either directly or indirectly related to
something I've done (or not done...more likely), I'm sorry for appearing to
be ignoring you, or this newsgroup. I simply have not been able to access
this newsgroup, or email anyone for about two weeks.
While things are not totally back together here, I do have some time late
this afternoon that I will attempt to download as many days "back" from
today on this ng and try to catch up. But, I'm not sure if I can download
posts back as far as Jan21? Or, if I will have the time to answer or
respond to all of them even if I can.
My apologies to everyone.
Regards,
Tom Pabst
PS: Regarding email addresses: To those of you who regularly communicated
with me through email, I will not be able to email my new address(s) to you
for a few more days. I have only one .pst export file of my Outlook Address
Book....it may be virus corrupted and not usable. I do have a hard copy of
my emaill address book, but with over 700 entries, that will take some time
to hand-enter each address to rebuild the list in Outlook. I was able
(thanks to a friend) to acquire about 12 or 15 hard copies of some email
sent in the last few days, of a critical or "time sensitive" nature. I will
be getting to those this evening, or will be calling you today if necessary.
