TIR demo: pedals don't work!

I have tried the Total Immersion Racing demo and while the steering wheel
works, i can't get the program to use the pedals when i try to assign the
accelerator and brake axis in the controller menu. I have a Logitech Formula
FF.

I have a Logitech Wingman Formula Force, the old red one with the cables
instead of gears and I can't seem to map the steering or pedals! I've tried
both combined and split axis.

The buttons and shift levers work however, but I am forced to drive via
keyboard...

Anyone know of a .ini file or configuration file to tweak/correct this?
