This sounds like the "bogus" information given in the Popular Science
magazine. The "official" 1996 season is the release of a new product by
Sierra/Papyrus "NASCAR Racing 2". However, you should be able to find a
1996 carset to download for NASCAR 1. Then all you have to do is create
a new calendar file. However, I would recommend considering purchasing
NASCAR2 for the full experience of 1996 rules and for an much improved
sim.
