Cat 5.7's a dog in GTR?

Long story short:
Had a 9700Pro in my box, Cat 5.6 gave 50+ FPS in practice easily even
w/FSAA.  Upgraded drivers to 5.7, but never tried GTR.  Just upgraded
to X800XL, now GTR is giving less than half that!  Ran the ATI cleaner
after removing drivers before the card swap, GTRConfig ran normally,
I've seen posts of people rolling back from 5.7, but never why.  Anyone
else seen this kind of performance with the 5.7's?

Well, even rolling back to 5.6 didn't fix the problem, and even
stranger, resolution makes no difference in FPS (800x600 is still bad).
 Other games run great - looks like I'll have to reinstall GTR and see
what's up.

the newer cards do NOT like the low res???  least that seems to be what I
have experienced, turn it up, enjoy.

I was starting at 1280x960, tried 1280x1024, then 1152, 1024, 800.
I'll crank it up to 1600x1200 for shits+giggles, but I think something
else is wrong.

1280 w 4xAA/8xAF would be just fine by me.
