Nascar3 Please Help

by Will_ » Mon, 04 Oct 1999 04:00:00

Please help. I am trying to get my brothers computer setup to run Nascar 3
and the long distance phone calls are killing us.When we run the game setup
it seems to detect everything, his processor,voodoo2 card and sound card.
When he goes to the game, a white screen comes up and asks him to choose the
resolution he wants to run in,but the mouse is behind the screen where he
needs to click on and can't choose the one he needs. His has 3 choices. We
have uninstalled and reinstalled it and can only get it to run in software
mode.In the game (software mode) if he chooses to use the glide mode it
tells him to restart for the effects to take place and when he restarts he
gets the resolution choice screen again. The only way to get around this is
for him to run in software mode.YUCK!! We did manage to get in an online
race and had a good time. Please, if you have any idea how to get this fixed
please email or reply to me here. Thanks, Will_H

Will,

When in doubt, I say, always reinstall your video drivers.  In your case
that would mean your voodoo drivers.  Sounds like a problem with the video,
which is oftentimes the case.

Total ***processor but I don't think it is the problem.

Make sure you go to www.3dfx.com and get the latest drivers,
along with DX7.

Well you should be sure since you need the latest sound drivers
too.

Nascar3 Please Help

  Hi,
I got this from the read me file:
"NASCAR? Racing 3 requires at least an 800x600 16-bit Windows desktop.  If
you experience any problems with a clipped mouse cursor or other issues with
the user interface screens, verify that you desktop is set to 800x600 16-bit
before launching the game."
Not sure if this would be the problem, but you might make sure he's not
running his desktop at 640x480...just a thought.

Get a Pentium 3 and dump that Cyrix ***

Get more ram unless you like your harddrive swapping non-stop.

This will do for now...

It's more of a safe assumption that the reason he's still
running a Cyrix is because he CAN'T afford a P3.  Jeez.  Going from
Socket 7 to Slot 1 (or even Socket 370) is a SERIOUS upgrade to many
people, and the expense shouldn't be underestimated.  Besides, he's
looking for a resolution to his setup problem - not a speed problem.
