all the aids and driver assists. What made it fun was learning to blip
the dang throttle on downshifts. I've lifted for years with GPL and the
NR2kx titles...but I always used auto clutch or clutch assist so
downshifting was never a concern.
Yes I whined at first...so did several others...and I never got fully
comfortable downshifting...but it was a challenge. I ended up about 4+
seconds off the pace...but that was an improvement...Of course the number
of wings and engine cowls I destroyed were beyond count. I doubt if I
put more than 10 laps together in any one drive before crunching
something...and keeping the engine going without a clutch pedal after a
spin was a challenge...Thank ISI that the F1c code has ingnition and
started buttons available. :)
Spent about an hour and half, maybe 40 to 45 laps, at Mid Ohio..one
turn near the start of Thunder Valley kept snagging me over and
over...All we did was practice...I think maybe 10 drivers were online at
the most. usually around 8. Once I quit whining about the lack of a
clutch assist I finally started to figure that quick little stab out.
I know BPR and other older mods used the no clutch assist, but I never
seemed to get the timing down and usually abandoned trying to learn it.
Sports Car Challenge's slow shifting 'may' have made it easier. At least
easier in the GTS cars of 2001 when sequential shifting wasn't too
prevalent.
adios...!!
