(N4) Excessive Tire Wear?

(N4) Excessive Tire Wear?

Question:  What is the average # of laps that the real WC drivers can
go at Daytona on fresh tires under green before pitting?

I can only squeeze 28-30 laps out before my RF tire blows.  I've read
the setup guide by Rodney Arndt and thought I had my setup pretty good
as far as tire temps go.  Any suggestions? Thanks.

They can go a full fuel stop on the tires and more (not often they do that
though).  I can run roughly 45-50 before my wear indicator turns yellows and
then I have to pit for fuel anyway.

Go to www.team-lightspeed.com and into the N4GUIDES / TRACK GUIDES / DAYTONA
section. There is a setup by Doug (sorry dont recall last name) that I used
in a league race a couple weeks ago. My RF never went yellow during a full
fuel run of 55 laps. Tire wear is not an issue with his setup and the speed
of the setup is right in with the top guys too.

Try drafting the AI running low 46s (102%) for 30 laps and tell me you still
get good RF tire wear
:)

I just ran a 75 lap race with a NO TIRE pitstop and no Cautions, and  had
the 2 right tires in the Yellow and the 2 left side in the Green when I
finished.  Ran at 100%.  I don't believe the 2% is gonna make much of a
difference.  If you tweak the setups until you can get them to run that
long.

I have NOT modified the tire wear sitting in the track.ini file, as I
believe doing that is cheating.

If you use the default qualify setup and use 35% grille tape your tires will
last for a fuel run.

Hey Doug -
Could you settle a discussion?  Were the replays in GPL done with the 'default'
setups?
