"Driver" and split axis MSFF?

Does anybody know if Driver can somehow handle split axis wheels?
It has nice physics, but it would be better if I can brake and step on
the gas at the same time...

Thanks,

It can NOT handle split axis wheels!

It is a nice idea to brake and step on the gas at the same time, but in
Driver this would also mean, you have forward and backward gears at the same
time!!!

So there is really no need for split axis...

It is a little redundant when the gas and brake are on/off switches!!!!

Marc, do you own a copy of Driver?  I do, and the gas and brake are
*not* "on/off switches".  But rather, they seem to control the speed
of the vehicle (instead of engine speed)...

It's a strange feeling at first (and I can see how you were mistaken,
it's a common misconception)-- if I hold the gas pedal halfway, my
vehicle will try to hold a constant speed, with the engine gunning if
I go below that speed and stalling if I go above it.

It is strange that they did it like this, but since about 80% of the
time my foot is jammed to the floorboards trying to outrun the cops, I
guess it doesn't matter much.  The other 20% is foot-off/handbraking
around corners and between cars...

Disclaimer: I do have a LWFF wheel, so maybe it works differently with
the Micro$oft wheel.

I own driver too.

And, with my MSFFW, the gas and brake ARE on-off switches.

It sucks.

Right.  I responded to another post about this where I apologized
about my defense of the gas and brake behavior in Driver.  They *are*
like on-off buttons.  All I can think of is that the demo had better
gas & brake handling than the released version does.  Because I know I
was able to hold a constant speed (without cruise control) in the
demo, but then I tried it the other day on the released version and
go-no.  Shrug!

Mea culpa!
