OT : Help needed please :)

I visited friends last night and spent an hour trying to sort a problem they
have with their pc,it beat me/us but i said i would try to see if the nice
experts here could help before i gave up :)

Windows XP.....his desktop wallpaper only takes up 2/3rds of the screen
because on the left 1/3rd is a type of vertical taskbar, which i did see the
same in a store once,so i know it is an XP thing.

His/our desire is to remove this 'taskbar' to leave a full screen for the
wallpaper and the icons as everything is bunched up into this 2/3rd of the
screen space.

Can anyone enlighten me please...?

Many thanks as ever to any suggestions.

If the taskbar is not locked, you can drag it to any of the screens four
sides, and you can expand it to fill half the screen. Right click on it and
uncheck "Lock the Taskbar" if it's checked. Then drag it back to the bottom
of the screen, and size like you want.

Jone...:)

The normal XP taskbar is at the bottom and you are correct i can move that
wherever i want it...

This is a taskbar type thing.....God knows how it appears or what it is
controlled by...:-(

It has a few words on it..like details similar to the ones inside folders on
the left hand side...size,date,details etc etc

Aidee,

Sounds like he has dragged a folder onto the side of the screen and it has
made a toolbar for him.  If you right click on it and go to the toolbars
menu - untick the ticked toolbar and it should disappear.

All the best,
Ash
