I need a racing simulator that either has the West Palm Beach Moroso Track
or a game in which I can design my own track.

Thank you

It is possible to design your own tracks in Grand Prix Legends. Check out
http://www.gplea.org . These guys build tracks for GPL, so they might be
able to help you out.

You can also check out Sports Cars GT. You can design tracks for that
too.
And ofcourse, I can convert it to my own sim then. :)

Say, what exactly *are* you doing? The volume and complexity of some of
those physics discussions here imply that you're developing some GPL-killer
car simulation. What is the status on the project? When do we get to
toy with it? :)

I'm creating an open (NOT Open Source, as almost everyone seems to
think) and free car sim. It's called Racer and it is meant as an
engine rather than an actual racing game itself. This is because I
don't want to limit myself too much on doing one era, or one type of
racing, but rather want to see if I can keep it flexible enough to
create a Stunt Car Racer (my personal wish) to a GPL2-ish type of
thing. Someone is already looking into doing a (free) game based on
it.
Not really a GPL-killer carsim yet though; there's a very high level
of physics included in that game, mind you. But it's definitely a goal
to reach for, although more fun-and-run type racing games should be
possible. But always with a good sense of realistic driving.

As for toying with it, follow the link in my sig,
http://www.marketgraph.nl/gallery/racer/ and see for yourself. You can
already drive some on a track.
I just upgraded the physics engine this weekend (it now uses
quaternions and gyroscopic precession for the car body), and I have a
'view' working (look at a view as a 'cockpit description'; you can
place dials and bitmaps to get an RPM readout for example). I have
laid out plans for a replay function. Basically the replay itself is
of not too much interest to me, but rather I want a ghost car. But
that takes laptimes (well, lap detection), so there's a next thing to
do.

But try the current version. It's possible (though still a bit manual
on the physics side) to import Sports Cars GT cars, and tracks.
Furthermore, it's relatively easy to build your own car or track,
compared to current sims. Well, the track part needs quite some extra
miscellaneous info, like time lines and grid positions.

The site also contains a lot of info about what I'm doing and how the
sim functions.

Hope you enjoy it. :)

...

Oh, eh, this version is ofcourse not yet available, in case anyone
starts looking for the RPM dial.
