A patch fix's bugs or issues in a game. It can also add new features
to help make a game more enjoyable (or less enjoyable).
If you are having or experiencing problems with a game, chances are a
patch available for that game will fix these issues, but not always.

The only patch for N3 that I am aware of improves the performance of
multiplayer internet racing the patch can be found at
http://www.sierra.com/sierrasports/forums/motor/nr3beta/
This website has an FAQ about the patch and a discussion forum. Here is an
excerpt from the FAQ:

I've decided that beta testing isn't for me, how do I revert to the
unpatched NASCAR 3?

You need to copy 5 files from your NASCAR? Racing 3 installation CD. These
files are;

NASCAR Racing 3.exe
krnl.dll
3dfxdll.dll
softrast.dll
rastd3d.dll

In most cases the answer is no.
