Subject: E-mail to BOB LONG

Hi Bob & Jim & Kari,

here is our answers to Radio New Zealand questions. It is a ZIP file
called
rnz_rfp1.zip. As I told Bob by phone the RFP has been most propably
made by the
specifications of D-Cart system from ABC. This means that their
philosophy is
based on ABC ideas 10 years ago plus the telecom possibilities of
today and they
do not know much what is happening with other systems in the market.

The questions are partly very hard to answer and partly conflicting
with each
other. For example they are talking about "linear only" system and in
the hand
they are asking for bit-rates of the compresses audio! Anyway I've
tried my best
to give an answerd and stated clearly when we need more information.
PLEASE READ
MY ANSWERS carefully before printing them out to the customer. There
is also
questions for you and especially questions to IBM.

My feeling without meeting the people is that the first thing to sell
to them is
the new philosophy or way of thinking for the solution. They stick
with their
old terms and workflow without really thinking the opportunities about
new
     generation products like NewStar-RadioMan system.

Somebody from IBM Australia will contact you soon to establish a
connection with
     IBM-NewStar-RNZ.

To be able to give our prices we need to have information on:
     - the number of editing stations
     - the number of planning workstations (without audio capabilities)
     - the number of ON-AIR workstations (transmitting studios)
     - the number of external channels we must be able to record
       simultaneously.
     - the number of the automatic transmissions we must be able to send
       simultaneously to RNZ customers.
     - the number of inputs to the audio routing matrix for external
       channels AND in-house studios.
     - the type of the matrix: analog or digital? - the number of LapTop
       recorders

I hope that I can get an answer to these question soon. The only thing

we can do for now is to give an estimation of "equivalent system".

I'm looking forward to hearing your comments soon, and as you know my
cellular phone will be almost always on.

     Best regards,

     Antti

The following is an attached File item from cc:Mail.  It contains
information that had to be encoded to ensure successful transmission
through various mail systems.  To decode the file use the UUDECODE
