On Saturday night, Sky Sports 2 were having an interview with Jackie
Stewart about his new F1 team, and after the interview they did a small
preview of F1GP2. The journalist was talking to a guy from PC Zone or PC
Action (or something other), but she then went on to play it, and it
looked really nice for the few seconds she managed to stay on the track.
The view was from the exterior, the car was a Williams (2) (it was
really easy to identify - nice gfx), the speed seemed fairly arcady
(difficult to tell by the way she was driving), the scenery was almost
non-existent (maybe turned down for speed), and the car bucked side to
side and forwards and backwards as well, whenever she went off the track
(most of the time).
The only down side for me was the release date she mentioned - towards
March ('96 I think ;) ).

The other thing I noticed was that she was using a Suncom G-Force Yoke (which is what
I have) - I assume that it must work reasonably well with this if they used it in the
demo (which was at the Birmingham Autosports show).

Maybe this is why I have problems with Nascar - know of a better controller that is
available in the UK ?

I played it at the NEC and I thought the controller was a pile of shite.
It was hard to control anything with any degree of accuracy.

Last November I got a Thrustmaster Formula T2 wheel/pedal setup from
Strategic Plus for 150 (that's right you American chaps - it costs us
Brits more than twice what you pay :(   ). A lot of money I know, but
it was worth every penny. Nascar suddenly became playable ! Indycar
Racing 2 is a dream (well, if you forget about the yellow flag bug
that is) and I'm in severe danger of messing up my trousers just
thinking about how good F1GP2 will be with it :)

Strategic Plus can be contacted on 0181 9778088. They do have an email

them several and they never replied. I have also seen the T2 in Game
in Manchester for 170 - I assume their other larger branches will
have it too. Thrustmaster have a web site with pictures and info -
sorry, I forgot the URL but it'll probably be on lycos or yahoo.

Premier Mail Order are advertising it for 120 inc. - 01268 271172.
They're good for software, but I've never tried ordering hardware from
them.

Maybe I'd better quantify my statement. 2 things to remember is that
i, I have only ever driven F1GP with a joystick or keys, never a yoke or
wheel.
ii, I think they'd set it up a bit sensitive but that can be altered.

That said, I found the  feel of the unit a bit "cheap" and plastic for my
liking. I'm not saying my joystick would have been better but compared to
a few wheels I've had a go with it felt awful.

As for alternative's, how much cash are you wanting to pay.
