Sob! My brake spring's gone as well.......

The return spring has gone (snapped) on my MS Sidewinder Precision Racing
Wheel's brake pedal. Damn damn damn. I'm going to try phoning Microsoft
support tomorrow (the wheel's only a few months old) to see if I can
persuade them to send me a replacement spring. Not too hopeful though.

Don't suppose anyone knows of anywhere I could find one if MS can't help?
I'm in the UK. Alternatively, I'd be quite happy to send a couple of quid by
cheque to anyone that posts me one.

Cheers
Jim

I've got the same wheel. My spring hasn't broken, although I'm going to
replace it anyway, for a stiffer one. I'm going to try and look at "spring
places", or "spring companies", coz there are companies where you can walk
in off the street and buy just 1, of any type of spring. Just make sure you
keep your broken one, or, take the one out of the accelerator, and bring it
with you when you go. You might not be able to find the exact one, but
you'll definitley be able to get something similar, which you can then bend
around or whatever, to fit properly.

To the best of my knowledge, no one has been sucessful at this yet.  MS
doesn't ship parts.

You will probably have to send the whole wheel/pedals in for service.

Whoop! Maybe I'll be the first!

Just got off the phone from MS support helpline. They've decided to send me
a brand new Sidewinder wheel and pedals by UPS parcel service, to arrive on
Wednesday morning. No need for me to return my broken pedals, the call only
took 15 minutes and everyone I talked to (admittedly in 4 different
departments) was very helpful.

No, I don't work for MS, and no, I haven't gotten hold of my replacement
yet, but at least things are looking pretty good. I'll post again on
Wednesday and let y'all know how things turned out.

I am, quite frankly, stunned by the reaction I got on the phone. I was quite
prepared for a big old shouting match and wasn't really expecting any kind
of result.

There's hope yet.... :0)

PS. I mentioned that I used the wheel to play GPL and the guy on the other
end replied "oh right, well at least we know you haven't been mistreating it
then"

Dunno if that helped my case any but I found it quite chucklesome :0)
