LC> Subject: Motorcycle Simulator
LC> Does anyone know of any??
_VERY_ sadly, NO.
Wish there was one.....a sim that is, not an arcade game.
After all, that is where the REAL racing is these days.....watch a 250cc
GP! No processions, proper corners, and _real_ OVERTAKING!!!!
125c & 500cc GP's , Supersport 600's, Superbikes, etc.....that's where
the real action is - but sadly I've not found anything to simulate this.
Crammond? Papyrus? Anyone?
_PLEASE_ write us a masterpiece in racing simulators.....a BIKE!!!
Cheers!

The fact that most of the 'Walter Mitty' buyers of simulators
are more interested in autos rather than bikes doesn't help much
either.

Do you really need all of this??? This is true in real riding but in a
sim?? Make it ease on all of us and don't get so techeeee on us!
:-)
Well there is ofcourse Cyclemania, but you could claim this to be an
arcade. Perhaps the upcoming release of microprose called Superbike GP
could be the thing Motorbike racing lovers are all waiting for.
It's too bad that microprose didn't gave any info on the game. They
just sad is a coming up release...

: I wish there were one as well. Unfortunately it would be *much* harder
: to program. Are you going to simulate the 'reverse' steering? (ie
There is also alot more to it than just the reverse steering. All the
body movement and feel could never come close to be captured in a PC
sim :(. Maybe in 5 years they'll have the VR bike and sim all ready to
plug in to the direct 100MB/sec Internet line and we can race 50 other
guys ;). I still don't think that could simulate the same rush
as the real thing, especially dragging your knee around a corner at
over 100mph ;)!

Well of course there is, but RS is a point that most normal non-motorcycling
people would know little about (I've even found a lot of motorcyclists
that don't believe it :-) Unfortunately you also snipped the rest of
my message which stated other factors (which included body weight
transference) that would be important for a good sim.
Well supposedly US military air sims are pretty darn realistic enough :-)
It'll be great if that kind of hardware could be applied to a bike
sim ... probably not in my lifetime.
Though I haven't dragged my knee at 100 mph (darn survival instincts
always kick in :-), I had a blast at the Keith's ??? Superbike Racing
School ... best fun you can have with your clothes on!

Very true, I've also met alot of cyclists who don't know, and some who
don't believe me. My misworded point was that it seems almost impossible
to simulate the "riding" of a motorcycle, besides the physics :).

It's a feeling you never forget, and always long for! I about died
putting some old racing pics on my web site, I want to race again
soooooo bad....after I graduate ;)!
Watch out for those survival instincts, they do you MUCH more harm than
good ;)!

Keith Code, he has alot of great info about riding/racing and style,
but the bikes at his school weren't up to par. Your best bet is Track
Riders, DP, or CLASS using your own bike, unless of course you don't
have a suitable bike available :).
: School ... best fun you can have with your clothes on!
You got that right ;)!

I remember seeing one about 2 years back or so. I think it was called
"Superbikes" and was an Accolade release. You might want to call them or drop
them a line.

In the Microprose webpage http://www.microprose.com/release.html there is
mentioned a game called SuperBike GP under the Coming Soon section.

I gotta tell you, I watched Daytona this year on TV, and it was just
INCREDIBLE! The best shot I saw was all the bikes at 100+ mph on the high
banks, all jockeying for position before they pop up and down shift for that
first left hander into the infield portion of the track. Just pure speed.
Amazing.
Here's another one that I've been looking for for a long time. Mario
Andretti's game from a few years ago had it, and it was alot of fun, once you
learned the game. On the mile at Ascot, grabbing the berm with your front tire
going into turn one, getting sideways and putting all that torque to work
coming out of turn two. It was really nice. Crummy graphics, though. I wanna
see Papyrus do a liscensed vesion with the World of Outlaws. Can you imagine
being on the 1/4 mile clay oval at Placerville with Steve Kinser, Sammy
Swindell, and Jimmy Sills? I'd better stop here... I could go on all day.

No suprises there......this is _REAL_ racing after all! Just the right
number of wheels - none of this doubling up that generates processions
and dirty "bumper car" tactics!
But _WHERE_ is the sim!!! (he whined plaintively) B-)
Cheers!
