Lotus - Quickest car in the game, mainly because of excellent acceleration.
Very fragile. Only the Eagle breaks more often. I'm always a little slow
off the starting grid in the Lotus for some reason. Most difficult car to
drive.
Ferrari - Best car in the game for long races. Extremely sturdy and
reliable. Not as fast on the straights as the Eagle or Lotus, but a very
well rounded car. Excellent acceleration. Very tossable and easy to drive
with a good setup.
Eagle - Fastest car on the straights. Quicker than Lotus at Spa, Monza (?),
speedways. Breaks quite often, maybe moreso than the Lotus. I find it
difficult to drive, but some folks like it.
Brabham - Very slow on the straights, but excellent in every other respect.
Very quick at Mexico for some reason. Fat torque curve makes it fun to
drive. Very sturdy.
Honda - Pretty fast on the straights, but mediocre in other respects.
Moderately sturdy. Very tossable and tons of fun to drive.
BRM - Slowest car in the game. Good straight line speed, excellent
cornering grip, but pretty poor in every other respect. Most tossable car
in the game. Six speed gearbox. Also lots of fun. Very sturdy.
Cooper - Best of the "slow" cars. The slowest car on the straights. Very
well rounded- like the Ferrari. Probably the sturdiest car in the game. Not
particularly tossable, but somehow still very easy to drive on the limit.
Good beginner car.
Have fun!

Lotus
-----
PRO: Generally considered fastest car in the game, second lightest, very
large rear tires give increased rear traction (in F1 mode only), a very good
power/weight ratio
CON: Generally considered hardest to drive car in the game, unreliable (only
reason it didn't win title in 1967), power is somewhat peaky
Brabham
-------
PRO: Smallest and lightest car in the game, extremely nimble, has an unfair
advantage in F2/F3 due to low weight and good aero, reliable, smooth power
curve, loads of torque, most aerodynamic
CON: Very much down on power in F1 (at least 50hp lower!), can be prone to
bottoming out
Eagle
-----
PRO: Long and stable, easy to drive, has good, smooth power, generally
preferred oval car, second slickest aero
CON: On heavy end of the light cars, can be a little less nimble than
desired, most unreliable car in game, unstable if bottomed
Ferrari
-------
PRO: Very stable, smooth power, very easy to drive fast with Alison Hine's
Sweet Red Candy setups
CON: Not particularly fast, heaviest of the light cars, not much low-end,
not particularly aerodynamic
Coventry (Cooper)
-----------------
PRO: Longest car, easy (but necessary) to drive very hard, forgiving
CON: Needs to be driven very hard to go fast, heavy
RPM)
Murasama (Honda)
----------------
PRO: Most powerful car in game, stable
CON: Somewhat peaky power curve, heavy, slightly lacking low-end power
BRM
---
PRO: Easier to drive due to slower speed
CON: Heaviest car in game, absolutely no low-end power (like a on switch
being flicked somewhere around 7000 RPM), unaerodynamic
BTW I got a lot of this from the included guide and the GRE helpfile.

Eagle
Pros. Probably the fastest car in a straight line.
Cons. Heavier weight. Poorer brakes and less agile than the Lotus
Brabham:
Pros: Another fast car in the hands of the experienced. High torque engine =
pulling power from very low revs.
Cons: Rather tail happy. Spins are possible at low revs for the unwary.
Lacks ultimate top speed.
Ferrari.
Pros: Good overall handling and feel. Killer sound.
Cons: Prone to Latin tantrums in the handling dept.
Cooper:
Pros: Probably the best handling car of them all. Excellent brakes.
Cons: Rather slow in a straight line.
Honda:
Pros: Pass.. Not driven this one enough to pass comment
Cons: As driven by Surtees <G>.
BRM
Pros: As antiquities, they are extremely valuable. You get to play lots of
nice tunes with the gearbox.
Cons: I cannot afford one as I don't play with Pink Floyd. You have to keep
playing tunes on the gearbox to keep it moving.
