Hi Douglas,
As far as trusting posters to the newsgroup, if you check in often
enough, you'll begin to recognize names that are reputable in their
dissemination of info.
Take it from me, if Snowdog wrote it, it's probably as true as it's
gonna get. He hasn't steered me wrong in almost two years, since I've
known him.
BTW, SD, what the heck are you doin' in here, anyway? <g>

Guys:
I think the best answer is this:
As of 8/13, Papyrus posted a list of tracks that will be included. Las
Vegas isn't on that list. However, the same post stated that Papy was
still pursuing additional licenses and there could be more tracks.
The list was:
Texas Motor Speedway
California Motor Speedway
South Boston Speedway
Nazareth Speedway
Nashville Speedway USA
The Milwaukee Mile
Hickory Motor Speedway
Indianapolis Raceway Park (not IMS)
Myrtle Beach Speedway
Gateway International Raceway
(plus Bullrun and Red Rock)
The three missing tracks for BGN (that is, not in the pack or already
in N2) are Vegas, Daytona and Homestead.
We can feel pretty confident that he wasn't discussing Daytona (when
*does* that Sega license run out???), so the only likely still in
negotiation tracks were Vegas and Homestead. (Unless Papy knew Pike's
Peak would be on the '98 schedule... if so, add that one.)
And we'll know for sure when we see the CD. :)

I will never understand the rationale behind licensure. IMS and
Daytona beiing absent I understand -- both are under exclusive
contract to others. Vegas is hard to understand... unless it's
exclusive to the IRL game coming from ABC. (The other tracks that IRL
shares with NASCAR were under license to Papyrus before the IRL game
was started.) Homestead is hardest to understand. The CART license
with MS we *know* isn't exclusive, because the CART tracks at
Milwaukee and Nazareth are in the pack. And I believe Homestead is now
in Bill France's ISC "family" --- and besides the fact that France is
NASCAR, all his other WC/BGN tracks except the
licensed-to-Sega-before-N1 Daytona are in the Papy sims (for the
record, that's Talladega, Phoenix, Darlington and Watkins Glen). Why
it would be withheld from Papyrus' pack -- which has been mentiioned
prominently on NASCAR's website! -- is beyond me.
He's covering me from the 2nd floor... ;)
Cheers!

Can anyone tell me where to find the best facsimile of Las Vegas in the
meantime? Thanks in advance...

There's a lot of talk about atlanta not being updated because they
haven't raced there yet. But no ones asked if darlington has been
updated.
Well does anyone know if darlington gets turned around?
