Which F1 sim for JPS mid 80's and also Mansell era ?

by Stev » Tue, 31 Dec 2002 23:11:34

Hi,
I am a newbie to F1 sims, I always intended to get a good F1 sim and run the
gorgeous looking Black and 'gold' Lotus 97T of 1985 and 96T of 1984, also as
Mansell both with Ferrari Livery in 1989 and with Williams 1992 (his F1
winning season) in the Williams FW14. The era of Mansell mania'...Senna,
Prost, Berger...when F1 was interesting !

What sim is best suited to my livery needs please. I wish to get in and go,
so no management type sims please. Good realistic graphics and structural
shapes typical of the current expected standard would be nice.

Having just found a JPS skin download for GP3, I wonder, is this the sim for
me, is it any good shape wise ?....a search for JPS skins on the net found
no hits after this ! Obviously the sim needs the car shape to go with the
skin. .Are there any good sites to get skin and shape addons for whatever
sim gets suggested here ?
Also would the driver characteristics e.g. Senna be portrayed/importable, or
available as third arty addons ?
Are the circuits of the time represented ?
I hope by now such is possible for such an interesting era.
Please advise
JPS

The turbo mod sounds like what he is looking for,  Nige's Red 5 is
there as well as Senna and Prost.  The next two F1 mods look to be a '79 mod
from Simbin(the Nose-less Ferrari/JPS years)  and a slightly newer early
90's mod from Thrasher and the same guys who gave us the Turbo mod.  (Prost
at Ferrari)
Still waiting on the LeMans update from SSM, the BTCC mod from SSM, the
SCP sportscars for 2k2 from RSDG, the CART mod from whomever picks up the
pieces..

Hi,
thanks for the response,...this F1 2002, is there a demo available
?....is there an active group of skinners etc creating add ons and
where do I go for this ?  The turbo era...yes, the late JPS era was
the turbo era, as was Williams FW11B in Mansells championship year.
Are these add ons only just starting to happen, I cant believe the F1
sim fraternity aren't buzzing with mods and addons, in the world of
flight sims such as European Air War and Rowan Battle of Britain, the
guys have transformed the originals into astounding sims with a load
of supportive websites and forums, anything like that for this ?
