European F2 Championship

European F2 Championship

For those of you who haven't already heard, I am starting a new European F2
league.

The idea is to run longer than normal races (1 hour) with a couple of
interesting new variations. Qualifying will be a form of 'superpole' where
every driver is only allowed 2 flying laps to set a time. This will keep the
qualifying session short to allow for more racing. The second variation is
Pitstops. Drivers can choose to make any number of  pitstops in a race,
consisting of a
Stop/shift R/Go at a nominated place on the track.

The races will use intermediate damage, but if you shift R for any reason
other than a pitstop then you must do a stop/go in the pits.

Car choice is open (Brabhams are excluded as usual in f2), but it is
expected that the majority of drivers will choose Ferrari, Eagle or Lotus,
hopefully ensuring close racing as all 3 are all quite closely matched.

The races will be run on Tuesday Evenings at a time suitable for European's
to drive (9.pm UK time), but I don't see a problem for others to take part
as long as they can get
a reasonable lat to a UK server and can commit fairly regularly.  Races will
be every 2 weeks.

This league will be moderated, meaning that bad driving will be punished by
either warnings, points or race bans. This doesn't mean you get punished for
mistakes, but for doing things that could easily have been avoided (e.g.
pushing too *** lap 1).

The championship will use a points system closer to f1 than cart - i.e.
reward the winners much more than minor places. A number of results will be
dropped to allow for holidays, discos, etc.

Expect a mixture of new and old tracks.

We currently have 35 drivers signed up including almost all of the fast f2
drivers in Europe, so with 2 divisions of 19 drivers that still leaves a few
places to fill. I'm sure that we wont get everyone racing at every race, so
a number of reserve drivers are bound to get a chance as well. If you are in
the European time zone, this is the place to show you are a good f2 driver.
