I have been playing GP2 now for months.  No matter how hard I try with
setups, other peoples's setups, following the lines precisely,
curb-hopping, squealing tires to the limit before spinning out, I still
can't qualify or race within 3-4 secs of the fastest car at ace level.  I
only managed to qualify first and win and Monaco and that was with a setup
I tweeked from someone else.  How do these GP2 racers qualify and race 2-3
secs faster than the fastest computer car?  I use their setups and still I
can't do the phenomenal times they post.  What is the trick?

Try examining a fast hot lap carefully. Take notes of split times, entry
speed and exit speed at every corner. Then make a hot lap of your own, and
compare them. You will be able to see where you loose time.
Unless your setup is very abnormal ;-) you won't loose time, IMO the setup
has much more to do with driving style.
I've seen "no downforce" setups, practically undrivable, but if you hit
that one in a zillion, you'll make a blitz time.
I use a wheel, and no steering aid, and if I haven't driven for a month or
so, I have to use several hours to get up to pace.

few races on ACE level with regual joystick...

GP2 is not arcade....you have to know some stuff about
drving, cars, F-1 world in order to get good....

 Just wondering if anyone has heard anything new on the N2 track pack
thats scheduled to be released in may. What tracks, any new features,
any added features that were left out of N2? How 'bout it Jim? :)

 A good thing to try would be to go into the***pit of a good driver like
Schumacher or Hill when they are on a quick lap to see what speed and gear
they are in when they take a corner. Set the difficulty to "Pro" when you
are watching and either de-select your own car or park it by the side of
the road while you are riding with the other driver. This will show you
that you tend to take most corners much too slow.
 I also only brake to slightly above the speed I wish to take a corner,
letting engine braking slow me the rest of the way, thus carrying more
speed in. Schumacher does this with the '94 carset, but no one else does.
 A player can generally get on the gas a little bit sooner than a Computer
Driver, but it's hard to get one's lines as precise as them.
