I have scratched CD, can I get a replacement CD?

by Michael Haydo » Tue, 22 Oct 1996 04:00:00

Hi,

I bought Grand Prix when it first came out, but haven't got to play it
much due to lack of time. I dropped the CD (okay, okay) and now its
scratched and the game does not work in a certain section.
Does anyone know where, how and if I can get a replacement CD from
Microprose?

Thanks, Michael

if you have it installed on your HD, than you can use NOCDROM.ZIP to play
without CD-ROM in your drive.

Good bye

Try using car wax and polish the CD.  Use single strokes starting from
the middle moving towards the edge.  Do NOT use concentric circling
strokes and use only a little amount of wax and a very soft cloth.

This works 90% of the time.

I don't know about a replacement CD. However, you might try going to a
good quality aquarium store and getting some polish for Acrylic
aquariums. I have had great success polishing scratches out of CD's
with a good acrylic polish.

I don't know about a replacement, but I use a good metal polish and a
very fine cloth (spectacle cleaner cloth), and if you rub gently, you
will gradually remove the scratches, and if any scratch remains, it
should be highly polished.  This is on the clear, unlabelled side.  If
the scratch is on the painted side, then the CD is scrap.
