....or at least that's my opinion.

Sure, whenever I first played it, I thought "this is awful....", but upon tweaking the graphics, turning off the driving aids, and trying out some set-up work, I was impressed. The physics
are great (as expected from a Crammond title), the graphics are pretty decent (no worse than F1 2002 despite some dodgy reflections), and the AI are fantastic (take note, EA).

I've just been doing a full race distance at the Nurburging, and it all feels fantastic. Round of applause for Geoff, and credit where it's due.

Also, on the official GP4 website, there is a section entitled "patches". There's nothing there yet, but I expect them to release several patches.

So you're saying hell will freeze over? ;-)

Seriously, I'm glad you got the game to work for you. I haven't played it
yet, but I'm not expecting any less than what you just mentioned. Which is
not to say the game, reportedly, carries over some flaws which people have
been complaining about since F1GP on the Amiga. Seeing as those haven't been
adressed and in view of past performance, I'd say it's highly unlikely
anything will be patched on this game.

Personally, I have always liked Crammond sims, with the exception of the
"Crammond touch" which pervades them and I sincerely hope this incarnation
will mark the end of the general buyer's tolerance with respect to Geoff's
idiosyncrasies.

I do believe so.

Indeed... Geoff's always been utter ***at patching the GP series. He's
gotten an (imo undeserved) reputation of releasing when the game's ready.
That is, tested and tested and bugfree. I guess he's worried releasing more
than 1 patch per iteration might ruin that reputation. I'm *very*
disappointed they didn't even bother to release a patch to fix the freaking
invisible walls in GP3. I mean, come on...

Everything sounds ok to me, except the part of great physics.
Since Geoff claims the tracks being accurate, then the physics is way off.
Since ppl claim you still can take Eau Rouge flat out, even in wet with 1:1
wings
then something is seriously wrong :)

I've always taken Eau Rouge flat in every F1 game I own..........

But then again, I've always crashed.

I'm glad it's working ok for you but from what I've just seen, it has EXACTLY the same
controller issues as GP3.  Menu driven controls won't turn off....calibration is next to
impossible...game is unplayable unless someone can send me a controller cfg for my MOMO
wheel that works with GP4..
Graphics are still average too. pixelated , blurry, rather 2 dimensional. Sound auto
config locked up my PC. First time that's happened in any game for a long time.
In short, not even in the same ballpark as F1 2002 or 2001. (At the moment).

Needs menu setup for my Act Labs with performance pedals. GP4 can`t run
seperate axis - just split axis. Split works fine in win98 - but what are
the configuration in XP. CanT get it to work in XP.
Any solution?

Regards.

I havent in GPL :) usually whimps at 3rd gear to get me around it.
The problem with most F1-games are that Eau Rouge is completely wrong
modelled. Look at it in F1 2002, its not
frightning really. No wonder its flat out there.
