I just looked at Grand Prix (the movie), and something occured to me:

Monza '66  vs.  Monza '67 ?

The '66 track goes al follows:

Follow the normal route, and out of the parabolica you don't cross the
start/finish, but you go on a parrallel straight, which bank 180 degrees
again over a bridge (!), again a straight and THE you come at the famous
banking !
And that leads to the start finish.

WOW!
Imagine the speed you'd have cross the start/finish!
I hope Papy can add that one!

The route you described is the one taken for the banked track but it was
last used for real in 1961 - GP the movie used it as it is very
photogenic and provided better entertainment.

Thanks for the info!
I really couldn't find that one in all my books :-)

I asked it because you can see the other roads & both bankings in gpl
(well, a little bit ofcourse)

So I wondered why Papyrus didn't make that version as well...
That would have been a great suprise :-)

I've got more info on the Monza track and the banking on my GPL page - so
far, Monza is the only track I have up with a lot of info on the page. This
was the first page I put up a couple at the end of August.

Btw, the last time the Banking was used in a G.P. race was in 1961.

Go to the "Tracks" section, then choose Italian G.P. - pictures, map,
history, etc.

** I have been VERY busy recently (not even much time for playing!) - but
the System Performance Test is ALMOST READY - should be complete by Saturday
evening Eastern (New York) time. Once this is out of the way, I can start to
put together my track pages. (Got Mosport, Zandvoort & the Nurburgring
half-way done .. just need to complete typing in all the work).

Of course, I'll let everyone know as soon as there are any major updates to
my page, as usual.

I apologize for not having updated the site in over a week (shock -
horrors!) Things should be back to normal pretty soon.
