Can someone tell me why the canadian national anthem is sung before each
race? thanks

What race track are you talking about? In the 50 or so I have been to, not once
was the Canadian Anthem sung.

They sang it today (Michigan) because of the large number of fans that come
across the border from Canada to see the race. It was a courtesy thing...

Canada recently invaded the entire world (sneaky lot them!) and so now the Canadian
Anthem is everyone's anthem!

I didn't catch the first part of this post, but when I was at Michigan Speedway
this last June and the 1997 June race, both the American and Canadien National
Anthems were played before the race - I'd suspect because many Canadians come down
since it if close to them.

That's better than the Canadian National anthem sung to the tune of "Oh
Christmas Tree" at the first CFL game in Las Vegas a couple of years ago!!
