Mr. Crammond, what were you thinking?

I wanted GP3 to be good. I wanted it to be good so bad I could taste it.
GP2 has always been my all time favorite F1-sim. So I had high
expectations for GP3. I mean, 5 years is quite a long time and
PC-technology (especially 3D technology) has come a long way since then.

So what were you thinking when you dusted off the ol' GP2 sourcecode,
and started changing things so to create a "completly new" version? That
we would swallow it as sugar? That we wouldn't notice? That we wouldn't
mind that our one-year-old Voodoo3's aren't able to generate pictures
that come anywhere near the screenshots on the box? That we wouldn't
notice that you or the one who has made the in-game artwork (textures)
hasn't touched a graphics-program in the last 5 years? That we wouldn't
mind that your "all-new-sounds" meant "we have one new car-sound, and
coincidently, that's the only sound of a car you'll hear in the complete
game"? That we wouldn't notice you have no f------ clue how modern
3D-graphics-engines work?

I don't care the physics are "excellent". The people who are telling us
that the physics are the best from all the sims have never seen a F1-car
up close, let alone that they would have any idea how one would drive.
I've got a one-year old $3000 machine on my desk. Every game I own looks
stunning on this machine. And when I run GP3 it's like I'm running a
Gameboy emulator. It can be done on my hardware Mr. Crammond. I've been
comparing your game with MGPRS2. And If I had to choose between a game
with perfect physics but which looks and runs like ***on a Voodoo3, or
a game of which the physics are less perfect (so they tell me, since I
have never-ever in my life driven a real F1 car) but which runs and
looks sooooo smooth even at 1024x768, the choice is obvious.

There'd better be some damn good patches coming out soon, sir. Or your
GP2-revised-to-GP3 will become an even more overhyped piece of ***than
the original Quake game was.

Yes I'm pissed. I just shelled out $50 for the GP2 patch.

ummmm....actually quake was actually quite good i think you'll find......I
dont think "ground-breaking" is too much to say....which unfortuntely GP3
(however much I like it)....is not :(

It's just a matter of managing expectations.

I read in the WSC interview, posted yesterday, that WSC will allow
modifications.  I might no have to work for another 10 years on CSP :-)
