Nascar Heat Add-ons are GREAT - Thanks

by Bradd » Mon, 16 Apr 2001 12:13:51

Well over the last 2 weeks I have been having a ball with the Cart Add-on
for NH.

Then I loaded the IRL addon from bhmotorsports.  Very nice indeed.

Then yesterday I load the LeMans add-on, it is fantastic as well.  Watkins
Glen in the Audi is a blast.

Do yourselves a favour and check these add-ons out.

Thanks guys for developing these add-ons they are worth every minute of
frustration you undergo.

Gee like Dave Henrie says imagune tracks now - Bathurst hmmmmm

Well back to LeMans, or Cart or IRL !!

Well, I'll throw out some more kind words about the add-ons.  I just started
playing the Le Mans one a couple hours ago, and I am realy loving taking the
Panoz around the road courses.  Somehow it just seems wrong to use them on
the ovals.  By the same token, I love using the IRL cars on the ovals, again
it seems wrong to use them on the road courses.  My only complaint so far
with any of the add-ons is that both the IRL and CART ones seem WAY too
sensitive in the initial acceleration.  I mean, I know that they have
massive horsepower going to the cold rear tires, but I can't get anything
but the absolute minimum acceleration pretty much without spinning
uncontrollably, at least until I hit 4th gear, at that point, I can just
floor it and let it loose.

By the way, running 200mph at Darlington is really cool.  And going flat out
around Dover is scary as hell.

I'm new to this game and mods. I have downloaded the 1.1 and 1.2 version and
can't seem to get it to work. Did I install it wrong, is there a step I
missed?

Nascar Heat Add-ons are GREAT - Thanks

Sorry you're having problems -- here are a few things to try:

1) MAKE SURE you used the installation option to "run NASCAR Heat from
the hard drive" -- this is a "full installation."  If you did a
partial installation (that is, if you're running the game from the
CD-ROM), you'll NEVER get the IRL Heat mod to work.

2) MAKE SURE you have the 1.3 patch installed -- you can get this from
the High-Compression site (http://hc.letsgoracin.net/thesite/).

3) Make sure the "irl.car" file is in the "...\NASCAR Heat\Data"
folder.

4) Make sure the "drivers.txt" file is in the "...\NASCAR Heat"
directory.

5) Make sure the *.tex files from the paint fix are all in the
"...\NASCAR Heat" directory.

6) Make sure the "options.cfg" file is in the "...\NASCAR Heat"
directory -- if it's in the "...\NASCAR Heat\Data" folder, MOVE it to
the "...\NASCAR Heat" directory.

7) Make sure you don't have another "options.cfg" file for NASCAR Heat
someplace else -- do you have NASCAR Heat installed to the default C:\
drive location ("C:\Program Files\Hasbro Interactive\NASCAR Heat")?
If you have the game installed to the D:\ drive, then you ALSO have a
few NASCAR Heat files in the default C:\ drive location -- in this
case (that is, IF and ONLY if you have NASCAR Heat installed someplace
other than the default C:\ drive location), then you need to delete
any copies of the "drivers.txt" and "options.cfg" files that exist on
the C:\ drive (DO NOT delete the NASCAR Heat directory on the C:\
drive location, though -- JUST the "drivers.txt" and "options.cfg"
files).

Give these things a try and let me know if it helps.

Thanks JB! It was number 7 that fixed it for me. Thanks for going into
detail and helping me trouble shoot this problem. What a great add on!
