GPL: Do you play online with pings >400?

I just saw a guy with 0.7?? ping and still playing online. Is that good? I
never, NEVER, connect when I have a ping higher than 400! First I thought it
was my poor telepone line ( die Slovenian Telekom, die! ) when I saw other
cars jumping around but now I tend to belive that it isn't only my fault. I
suggest that before every start of the race players should ALT+L and should
self-initiatevely disconnect if they don't have ping less than .444. Do you
think that's a bit to *** some people that just wanna have some fun
playing online?

No, since most of those players warp around the track spoiling
everyones qualifying/start/race, then whine about it.

Read the message of Ron Ayton on this subject. There is more then
latency alone. Header is: VROC and lag

Lol, ive played with .600 pings and rarely have warping. Then all these
other guys lead the race and spin then disconnect blaming warping when they
have .200 pings. Haveing a bad ping doesnt ruin anybodys race within reason,
running straight back on the track after going off ruins everybodys race.

Did he tell you or how did you see?
Alt-L is for your own ping only.

For proper racing without warps it's much more needed than only a low
(medium) ping.
People have to setup their connection properly and host has to use
this core.ini.

Following this, I had my last serious warpings at ping > 700 - of
course I disconneced.

The points is: it may seem smooth to you, but it is not to them. You
are propably warping all over their monitors and creating dangerous
situations without knowing it. That's why it's so important to watch
the latency figures.

Keep in mind that it is not latency alone. It is better to have a
700ms latency without package loss then a 200ms latency with 75%
package loss.  (BTW, you will disco with the latter.)
