Hi,

is there a solution to get away these "crackling" sounds in GPL when using
WinXP?

Audigy is the card.

Get rid of Audigy and the non existant Creative Labs drives.

Try backing down the hardware acceleration on the audio.

Try adjusting the hardware acceleration under sound options or update drivers.  Most all have been
able to completely eliminate them with one method or the other.

Don't know if this will help, but replacing the original 8-bit bit sound files with 16-bit loops helps the crackle problem with several sound-card/OS combinations.
