NEW GP2 LEAGUE - PRESEASON TESTING NOW!

by Keith Windso » Mon, 10 Feb 1997 04:00:00

A NEW OFFLINE league, using Microprose's F1GP2, is underway.

If you've tried other leagues, and had trouble competing, or you've
wondered if
some of the lap times are genuine, or you're simply looking for a
league that's as fair as
possible, with a good chance of getting in the points, and yet has
VERY FEW RULES,
then look no further.

Instead of worrying if another competitor has used one of the many
editors on the market,
giving an unfair advantage, why not do the same?

Because, in this league, there are NO restrictions on the
'technology' that a team may
use to improve car performance. You can use ANY utility available.

Think about it. This actually increases the realism, as teams can now
strive for
technological advantages over their rivals.

And, after all the editing & tuning, all that remains is for the
driver to turn quick,
consistent laps. So, no matter how fast the car becomes, in the end
it is the ability
of the driver that counts.

The number of entrants will also restricted at some point in the
future, to allow
for more realism, and more chance of scoring points.

It costs nothing to have a go, and there are currently bonus points
to be gained by being an early entrant, and also for posting quick
laps in Pre-season testing, which is currently
in progress. The season then starts with 3 races, and depending on
support, will
continue for a full season.

So, if you're interested in finding out more, read about the
Brooklands GP2 league

and book yourself a seat!

NEW GP2 LEAGUE - PRESEASON TESTING NOW!

Is this a joke?! So far sounds like your league is!

Technology?! How do you consider altering files technology?!

So in this case hours spent on hacking files is more "realistic" than
actually experimenting with different setups and practicing laps?!

This isnt "tuning" my man, this is HACKING!! (big difference)

Again you use "realism" in a very fictional way!

Keith,
This type of a "so-called" league is an embarrasment to auto racing
simulations as a whole and I see it
as SPAM in this newsgroup. I hope guys dont lower themselves to the
hacking of files in these SIMs.
It basically ruined HAWAII and alot of competetive racers have quit
because of it!!
Simulations are designed to do just that, S-I-M-U-L-A-T-E! The physics
and telemetry of these cars have
been designed to mirror that of their "real" counter parts. Advertising
BS like this disgraces our
"vitual" sport. Hacking files to change the properties of these
different type of cars is possible but NOT
considered by 99% of the guys that take these SIMS seriously. Its
unfortunate that guys that have
spent countless hours on setup and practice cant post "REAL" record
times on Hall of Fame web-sites
because people like Keith here sponsor hacking as OK!! Keith please post
your "so-called" league information
in rec.arcade.games NOT in rec.autos.SIMULATIONS!!! Its a joke in here!!

If any other "serious" SIMULATION fanatics, that want to keep the
integrity of our hobbie, see ***like this
posted here, reply and let them know its SPAM! Thank you
