F1GP2 - Coming this Christmas!

by (Jim Boka » Tue, 02 Jul 1996 04:00:00

I was just in the local computer game store called "Electronics
Boutique" in the U.K. where I have been on the waiting list for F1GP2
for the past 9 months.  The manager there said he was told
"unofficially" by the Microprose rep that they (Microprose) may decide
to hold off on releasing F1GP2 until Christmas, or they might release
it on July 12th, and that it was simply a matter deciding when would
be the most financially rewarding time to release it.   I told him if
he did not have it in his store by the end of July that he should
remove me from the waiting list and I vowed to never buy it in the
future.  I would still obtain a copy of course, but not to the benefit
of Microprose.   If this is in fact true, I will forever hold
Microprose in contempt, whereas up until now I have held them in the
highest regard.

I would not be surprised if this had been the plan all along, and that
F1GP2 has been ready.  It certainly would explain the numerous missed
release dates and promises that always tend to be just over the
horizon.   Either there is serious management problem at Microprose,
or they have been playing us all along.

I would like to encourage everybody to email microprose to E-mail
microprose from their web page telling them what a bad idea it would be to
releast the game at Christmas and encourage them to release it now.
Obviously telling them that we will all get the pirate version and not
bother to buy the game.
