I was flabbergasted when I got the demo to work.. now I am beyond
words... After going from the novice car with throttle and braking
help to the full blown realistic everything.... Sim of the decade
folks...
I came barreling down the first straightway from the pits... Saw the
hard right.. Did like i did in the novice car.. locked the brakes...
Oopsy... The front wheels lock down.. the rear end actually LIFTS of
the ground from the force!!!!.. Anyway, I follow Newtonian law of
physics (once a body is in motion blah blah blah) and head straight
into a bail of hay.. proceed to rip both left wheels off.. bounce over
the guard rail and land outside the track area...
I then decide I'll floor it.. for kicks... I hear this whine.. A
bright flash then boom..WTF?
I play back the replay.. It is so damn cool when I see my car come
flying over the top of the hill.. the smoke shoots of the tires, the
rear end attempts to become the front end... flip flip crash...
Then I see what happened.. My engine blew up...
If the demo is this cool.. My God..
Tomorrow, me and my 11 month old daughter are going to Daddy's
favorite toy store... If they don't have a copy I may do something I
might regret...
Flight sims.. Pah! I may never go back...
I haven't had this much rush from a sim in a long.. loong .. hell
never before..
If NASCAR 3 is going to be this good... Oh Man...

Oh, and BTW, in the realistic car, the first try (after the infamous
crash of course) I got a 1:20
So stick that in your pipe and smoke it old timers ;)

So how do I do multi-play?
Please don't tell me Kali.. I don't use credit cards so I don't do
Kali..

I'm far from an expert, but a great place to find online racing is at:

www.gpl.gamestats.com/vroc

It's free!  I'm like you, don't use credit cards anymore, so miss out on
NROS/TEN and don't use anything that requires one for payment.  But this one
is totally free, and works pretty well over the 'net.  You will need
Netscape Navigator to use VROC.  On that page it'll list race servers that
are running at the moment and their status, and if any are open then it'll
have a join button, click it and it fires up GPL.  Very much like running a
game on Microsoft *** Zone.  Also, for league races or such, if you know
the IP address you can go directly there - GPL has an "address book" to save
these you run on a lot.

And I know what you mean about flightsims.  Always been a die-hard, still
BUY Longbow 2, F15, F4.0, EAW, etc. but usually end up PLAYING GPL or other
racesims a lot more.  In terms of realistically simulating it's environment
and how to act in it, GPL is about the purest sim of any genre there is
right now.  N3 / 2000 should be pretty wicked too :-)

Oh, and last but certainly not least, go here:

http://www.racesimcentral.net/~alison/gpl/

for GREAT info on the sim - Allison was a beta-tester and has been
collecting great info for a long time now, it's a big help.

Welcome to the party, GS, only about six months late, but it's
still rocking...  :)

Wait 'til you try it online.

I'm not sure if the demo is multiplayer capable, but here's where
you want to be: http://gpl.gamestats.com/vroc/index.htm

Do multiplay via VROC at http://gpl.gamestats.com/vroc/

As for Kali, I sent in a cheque for my first license.  It took a couple
weeks to get the reply, I live in Canada.  That was back when Duke Nukem
was #1 and a Pentium 60 ruled :-)  It was a one time payment of $20 USD,
no credit card required.  I still use that license and since then have
purchased another 2 licenses for friends using my credit card.

Jason.

The DEMO is not ON-LINE playable or capable. You have to  buy the retail
package. Then we'll see you at VROC for an evn bigger thrill.

You are not the only one !!! but a few months late

Go to VROC and you will find a few well know flight sim ***s names.

My Microsoft Sidewinder Pro has now taken on a new role - the throttle
lever makes a great brake pedal:-)

http://www.racesimcentral.net/

You will need Netscape and do some careful reading about setups

No need to bother with any of that stuff.  GPL does TCP/IP direct over
the Internet (after following the setup instructions at VROC).  VROC
acts as a sort of meeting place and allows you to offer yourself as a
host or join others.  But its not strictly necessary and if you know
the IP address of other people and agree in advance then you can go to
them directly.  ICQ can be a helpful tool to find out if others are
on-line.
