GPL IS STILL KING!

Like I said a couple months back, GP3 is just GP2 with a facelift. It might
be the best modern F1 sim out there but it still doesn't even come close to
reigning king of racing simulation, GPL. I've played the warez version and
find it just as good as all the others out there, but if I really want to
race on my computer I boot up GPL still. GP3, nothing but hype! I guess
we'll just have to wait till World Sports Car comes out since Crammond just
took a big shit and out came GP3.

says...

At the end of the day, its success will be measured based on sales, and
will be crowned on that criteria alone.

GPL is the reigning king crowned by the minority, unfortunately.

It's a superb simulation, but out of reach to your average racer. This is
where GP3 will excel. The market is driven by sales, and as such, you're
more likely to see a GP4 than you will a GPL2. ;(

So which one really is king? Time will tell.

Cheers,
Rod.

There's no direct correlation between a good and product and a successful
product. Nowhere did I say or imply that GP3 was good. (especially
considering I've yet to play it) - yet, I called GPL superb.

When you see the monthly PC charts, what's it based on? Sales.

When you see Top 40 music charts, what's it based on? Sales.

What simulation is more likely to generate a sequel? The ones that sell
well.

Don't put words in my mouth.

Cheers,
Rod.

That was not the intention, and i'm sorry if i did. Actually, looking
at my comment again, I see it didn't quite fit in as I hoped to.

Exactly...we have played GPL for almost 2 years now and interest has not
depleted much....you think a sub-par product will last that long?

Ah sir. Your critical eloquence surpasses that of the masters. Twain,
Mencken, Swift, Orwell, Shaw, et all, are all rolling in their graves
tonight as you add yourself to the list of purveyors of their fine art.

Attacking a poster's use of words seems to reveal the lack of a real point
pertaining to the subject. Stick to the topic or don't type anything. That
would at least unclutter this newsgroup a little. Yes I realize responding
to you just cluttered it further.

We should stop comparing GPL, GP3, WSC  etc. They are all kings in a
different kingdom (actually, I prefer president in a different republic). It
is impossible to compare a no-aerodynamics, threaded narrow tire 400 BHP
low-tech carsim to a winged, wide-tire 800+ BHP high-tech car sim to a
winged closed-wheel 1000 kg 1000 BHP sportscar sim and say which is best.

It's almost as ridiculous as comparing FIFA 2000 to Roland Garros tennis

I'm sorry, but reading my post again I see nothing but praise in it. Perhaps
you misunderstood me.

So, let me try to rephrase it in more poitive terms. Ok?

How about; Vintook took a big shit and out came GPL IS STILL KING! ?

Better?

I'm not sure I do your fine words justice, but I shall endeavor to learn.

Both games needs a good ballistic model for the ball based on the laws
of Newton :P

A fine aviator.
