I was about to buy from them until I found out shipping was going to be another
$12 for 3-7 day UPS. I consider that outrageous. I prefer to support those
companies that tell you up front what it will cost rather than make their money
through the back-door by inflated S&H costs.

I knew there had to be a catch to that $12 price tag.
I feel a little better about Spending $39 and getting it localy from the
store  and able to race it a few minutes later :)

Well, Larry, I bought 3 copies of it from them, and the
shipping/handling was still only $12.00, and my order was sent via
U.S. Postal Service Priority Mail and I received it two days after
ordering online at 3:30 pm CST in the afternoon. They are full retail,
sealed packages, and were packed very well. My order was confirmed via
e-mail only a few minutes after requesting that they confirmed, and
they sent a follow-up e-mail the next day to inform me that the der
had been filled, shipped, etc. I come from a retail/service business
background, and I know that kind of service and attention to customers
costs some, and I for one appreciate such service, and am willing to
pay a bit for it. I did have to pay tax on the order since I am in
Texas, but I would have had I bought them in a store here, too, and it
would have been significantly higher tax since the going price in
local stores is $39.99 for GPL. Taking the tax out of the equation,
had I ordered only one copy, I would have still paid only $24.00,
which again, is less than the near $40.00 in the stores. As it was, I
paid an average of $16.00 per copy for the game, and I actually plan
to order a few more copies in quanti from them to give away as gifts,
now that I know their service is so good.

To each his own, I guess ...

We're using it (and other games ...) in for entertainment of sponsors
and guests perhaps at our hospitality area at the racetrack, and we
plan on having two computers linked via a fast ethernet network so
guests can race each other. We want to keep a dedicated copy of each
game with each computer, plus one set of spares should a copy be lost
or stolen.

So, to each his own is indeed correct ...

Thanks,

Allan

Uh...he said he was giving them away as gifts.  That's ONE way to find local
competition...<g>
